OMG She's at it again

As yall know My stupid cockatiel. Who's name is actually Stupid. (Name was given by previous owner) Sat on eggs, Hatched the damn things then refused to sit on or feed the chicks. So I am hand rearing the only one thats left and she has the gall to go and LAY MORE EGGS... It's enough to make you want to pluck your feathers.

I cant let her sit on them. I need to clear the room out so Jay's parents can stay next month. /sigh. The things we do for birds. They rule my life.

I bought new beads for bird toys today woot, All I need is for Jay to come back and cut me some more shapes.

But uhm like he is... sorta. I mean Ok, stupid is a strong word but he is definately challenged. We had alot of chickens around the yard when I was growing up. 'Bout all they have the sense enough to do is walk and peak. Like Chief.

But I still love him! He is the only one around here that loves and appreciates me. The rest, especially the humans think I owe it to them yet I fail to see even a Nanny's wage coming my way. grrrr

I wonder why she is a bad Mama and keeps refusing to take care of her babies? I wonder why some animals do that just as some humans make the choice not to care for their young. I wonder if animals too have to make that choice. Or if they are just confused as to what they are suppose to do. This one perplexes me but then again so does my 5 year olds homework.

Mm yes Jay gets to almost cut his fingers off, not me

I'm a little intimidated by the big dangerous power tools. Like the compound mitre saw my sister wants.. He can play with the cutting thinggies. I'll just drill all the holes and sandpaper them and colour them and string them all together and .. wait.. I've got more of the work.. :shock:

It *could* be that it's her first time breeding, and there are many distractions like SUN CONURES in the room. Suns are so busy it really freaks the ringnecks out. They try and be so calm and cool, but inside they are big chickens.

I cant wait till bappy and froggy are old enough to breed. Maybe I should look at getting Zek a girlfriend. Damn I wish I never gave dysis back to the breeder. He wanted a hen for breeding stock, she was so tame and he sold her as a breeder dammit.

Perhaps yon Stupid was taken from her parents before her eyes opened and simply doesn't know what to do. That happens fairly often enough for breeders to want parent raised chicks for their stock.

Or even if she had a clutch with her previous owners and they gave the babies away young. If a bird doesn't raise it's first clutch to weaning, they often expect the babies to be taken away instead of feeding them themselves.
