hmmm..... i don't know if he/she will grow out of it. they can be quite destructive little things if not watched closely. My IRN is about 2 years old now and can destroy a mobile phone in a matter of minutes, chews keys off laptops with ease, and loves picking the buttons off my remote controls. She has absolutely tonnes of her own toys to chew on, but prefers anything that looks expensive!
Please let me know if you find a way to stop this behaviour, but i think its quite natural for parrots/parakeets to just chew for the sake of it!

Chewing is a natural thing for birds to do, so stopping it I think is like fighting a loosing battle.

All I can sugest is to keep items of value and maybe even dangerous to birds health, away from your feathered buddy. Give them plenty of natural toys like safe branches, store bought chew toys & acrylic toys etc.

I have a few toys that I rotate randomly thoughout the day or every few days and NEVER leave my birds out unattended. Never know what could happen to them. Would hate for them to chew an electric cord for example!

Foraging toys are great. Put treats in and let them figure it out how to get it. Depending on the foraging toy, it can keep them amused for some time. Simple safe paper scrunched up or strips hidden in balls, like the holey cat toy balls, where they can pull them out to their hearts content. Messy but great fun for the bird. :)
