has any one else had this problem?

Post by bec »

i was checking riku & kiraras nest box to see if they had any more eggs when i noticed an unusual coloring in there (hot pink!! )
so i took a closer look and discovered that riku had place his favourite toy wubble (a little pink & green chicken that has a weighted bottom so he cant knock it over) nestled in with the 2 little eggs
well my first thought of course was daggy little bird but now im slightly worried should i take it out or could this disturb the pair to much?
i mean riku is agressivly protective of wubble & will attack any thing that goes near it (im surprised that he even left it in the nest with kirara)
even gen jen wasn t allowed near it
as soon as my kids tell me where my camera is pics will be posted coz this is just soo cute!!!

Hi Bec,
This is not so unusual. My IRN use to take to the nestbox several pit fruits, when I gave them the whole fruit. I do not know whether they do it to play with or as a "present" to the female coving the eggs.

Cheers

it so funny now that the chic have hatched they include the " plastic sibling" in the birdy snuggle bunch it almost makes me want to go buy heaps more of them so i can let them take one with them when they leave home
