Bluey's first taste of pellets!
Hi Guys! I introduced my bird 'Bluey' to some pellets today! positive result and he seems to like the taste of them! We are going to start trying to wean him soon so i hope all goes well with him! I have been taking him to work with me every day so i can feed him every four hours on formula and he has settled into our daily routine really well! (morning times are quiet times and after lunch he has free roam of my office (within reason).lol) He is getting very independant now so thats why we thought we would give him his first taste of pellets, so, so far, so good. Any tips on weining would be great too!

Hi there,
sorry I have no info on weaning, but sounds like your going okay. Just wanted to say hi, I live at Maroochydore, so only about half an hour away from you. I'm also soon to get a blue IRN. How strange!!
Regards
Shane

Re: Bluey's first taste of pellets!
I introduce mashed fruit and veg into their formula as they start to refuse and cut down on feeds. Also give millet spray for them to try as well as soaked/sprouted seed, and small amounts of fruit and veg in a container. The first few days they will probably just play with it until they realise they can eat it.
I also start them with moistened pellets then slowly offer dry pellets as they acept them.
Like to give my birds pleny of choices with their food....infact, they get a larger range of choices than I do.
