New Lutino Ringneck

Post by DianeH »

Hi Everyone!
I'll be bringing home my baby Lutino ringneck next week. He/she is 8 weeks old and will be sexed this week. I'm new to the Indian Ringneck world so I'll be interested in any topics people put out there :)

:D

Exciting times! But isn't one way to tell an IRN's sex is by the ringneck? If the ringneck is prominent, then it is a boy. If it doesn't have a ringneck showing, then it's a girl. Or maybe I'm wrong...or maybe this doesn't apply to Lutinos?

Congratulations! You will have a lot fun with her (or him). ANd they're not loud at all...at least mine isn't.

Normally the ring doesn't show for 1 1/2 to 2 years. On the lutino the ring will be light red / pink. 8)

My ringneck is home and getting adjusted to his new surroundings. My breeder is 99.5% sure that its a boy based on his weight and feel of his pelvic bone. The DNA results will be back this week. Its so much fun having a new bird in the house! :)

:o I am new to the whole bird thing I has always loved birds my Father is a breeder and I had never seen a Ring neck until 3 weeks ago. I was visiting my Father and saw this stunning bird in one of his averies. I asked him what it was he told me and asked if I wanted one. He took me in to the "nursery" where he had a 7 week old blue and 5 five week old lutino's I knew I had to have him. (much to my wifes disappoinment the whole Alfred Hitchcock thing freaks her) So home came Balfi he was very very aggressive after the journey and took a good week to settle. I still wont let my 8 yr old handle him like before the trip but he can stroke Balfi While I hold him. He just seems to love attention and interaction. He has started to mimic my whisle when I call the dog. I have one question how do you get the wife to like birds lol

I think once your wife sees how awesome these birds really are she should warm up to him. They really are stunning birds.

Hi Diane! Welcome to the board, and welcome to the ranks of IRN owners. :)

Look forward to seeing more of you here on the boards, as I'm sure you will have questions. It's a challenge to raise a ringneck but what a joy. :D

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
