they dont care as long as it is able to be destroyed, edible or noisy!
I buy supplies and make him toys. I use sisal rope, plastic rope, cat balls, bells, beads, wine corks, chinese finger traps... anything I can tie together, make really colorful and funky, and sometimes he can even swing on! I just made him a birdie swing last night as we are out of town for a few days and I wanted to give him something new.
I find that the more toys I make him, the less he likes the store bought ones. I can really base the toys on what HE likes, so when the toy is complete its custom made to his interests. OF course they still like to destroy people things... but I find its a good bonding time to make the toys. you can both pick things to make and he will watch you, trying to grab it from you all the while.
Tie things together, shove food in little pieces of paper and roll it into a ball (like a hidden treat).. Mine loves to pull Qtips out of the cup and just throw them all over the place.. let him bathe as often as he wants too!
I could go on forever, so ..... good luck! when I get back home on sunday Ill post some pics of the toys I make for him, maybe it will give you some ideas of things you can put together for your baby!

i found the favourite toy of almost all my birds (skeet hates them)
is a branch of my flowering gumtree placed in there cage
they absolutly love ripping apart the flowers then the leaves then the branch they last about a week but its a very happy week!!!
i shop around abit for toys & not just bird toys
mutley likes cat balls
riku likes a dog toy i found
its made of a rope (almost like a dog lead) with toy bones down the length i hang that at the top of the cage and he loves to climb it and make it swing
skeet has rope rings & spiral perches and a hanging toy that has an enclosed ball with beads in it when she belts at it its swings and makes noises
use you imagination & look up the posts about toys
as you get to know your bird you will be able to tell the kinds of things she will like

Re: toys for my ringneck
Cody loves balls with bells in them....they look like little cat toys but these are hard plastic and don't break easily. I have a couple different sizes of them and keep them at the bottom of her cage. She'll throw them around the cage or pick them up and throw them out of the cage. I'll play catch with her sometimes as well. She loves that.
