All of my birdies are still happy eating and playing in their cage

Maybe the time change has them a little off. I dont mind though, gives me more ME time.

Ima feed my baby tiel chicky, put growls in her cage and go to bed, woot. bed is good. Growls spent most of the night sleeping on my shoulder. She's such a cutie. I can pat her back and her head and under her wing and her tummy, I can grab her and put her on the table and say POOP and she'll go if she needs to. Then she'll fly back up to my shoulder and preen.

She's SOOO soft and fluffy. She was eating some sunflower seeds today. Which reminds me Scarlet the striped sunflower seeds are ok for your birds so you can use them for clicker training. AND.. IMHO Some black ones are ok if your bird does alot of exercise. My birds are flighted so I let them have junk. It's like us, you can eat as much junk as you want as long as you go to the gym or wherever and burn it all off heh...

Oh I meant to tell you:

Chief loves to be whistled to, just as you said. If I just talk to him he gets antsy on my hand but if I whistle he watches me and turns his head side to side. Very cute.

Whereas Baby, she likes to be talked to. Yet, another way these guys are totally different.

Also, is he happy when he is chilling in his cage all puffed up? He looks like a man with a big ol beard. Too cute! He looks happy and content but I wanna make sure. It could mean pouting and I not realize it. No doubt in when an IRN is unhappy.

Hello everyone,
Gotta tell ya' my eyes are swollen, puffy, and sore from all the crying I've done last night. And my head is still throbbing. But I'm kind of okay today. Heart is still breaking. Supposed to be 71 here today. Bring it on. I'm so not ready for fall and winter. What a depressing time of year to me. Well should get back to work. Just wanted to say hello.

Hugs,
Jen

P.S. Mikaela, my 'tiel, Milo, puffs up like that all the time and he is a VERY, VERY happy bird! He has learned many whistles from John and I and he says, "Hi," "Good Boy," and "I love you." Which I'm told is good for 'tiels, as they don't tend to talk much. I just love him. He is the sweetest little bird. Not like you know who! :(

I am happy to know that. He has started playing now. Nowhere near like the girls but he will swing and whistle though.

He doesnt respond much to speech, he likes to whistle. And to be whistled too. He and Baby throw stuff back and forth. Baby is such a b*tch though, I cant let them be together.

Overnight he went from climbing the cage to get away from me to running to the door about to bust to get to me.

Shhh but my girls arent even like that hehe. I mean, they are happy to see me and step up but they arent busting in anticipation like Chief.

His tweets sound cool, will they get louder and annoying or is that about it for a 'tiel? He is like 3-4 months old.

Hey Mikaela,
My Milo can have a VERY LOUD and VERY ANNOYING scream he does. But that's just when he wants attention. When we leave the room and he can't see us. Other than that he's a great bird.

My Cheif is just a baby so he only has sweet little tweets.

He is starting to stand up to baby and earn some respect. He loves her so much and wants to play with her but she thinks she is too good to play with anyone and everything belongs to her. Although today, I have noticed that the only biting she is doing is preening his tail. She has to sneak up from behind and they both seem to enjoy it.

He is so funny the way he plucks like a chicken with that head when he tries to bite, unlike an IRN that lunges with precision and might. He looks rather stupid, like a chicken when he does that though

About the time you all started this post, Kai was getting all the attention from me and my family. He has totally settled into the cage, house and the family, because, he was being, as I call it, "King of the castle".

He started coming out of his cage on his own, climbing all over it, walking around on the ground and feeling very proud of himself, calling and chattering, almost like - "look at me, Look at me".

He can now wolf whistle perfectly, copies my laugh, and loves to give kisses not just the sound but will grab my lip with his beak and nibble me (I know I know one day OUCH! bad mood  )

I was told that it can take around 6 months for a new bird, especially one purchased as an older bird like Kai (11 months) to get fully use to their new home and family, so Kai is taking leaps and bounds.

I knew it because he was the first bird to come up to me and keep flying back to me at the breeders and gently nibble at my fingers, not try to take my nail off like peeling a nut.

I watched the birds for a long time and the blue's all definately seemed ALOT friendlier than other colours (not sure if it is possible that there is anything in that) but the blue's were the only ones to come to the side of the avary and fly onto the breeder to be fed by hand, and of the blue's Kai was the most gentle/friendly to me and the one the breeder felt was most likely a boy from the bunch. He would not stop coming to me so , my search was over.

Well enough of the essay

Oh P.S. when I was a child we had all kinds of aviary birds, lovebirds, tiels etc. not that I had a great deal of involvment , I was way too busy with the bunnies, guinea pigs, ducks, geese, chicken, quail, and our pet Gallah (Wacka), and Tiel (Locco) , locco because he sounded like a locomotive train when we fed him as a baby. Locco, was great as whistling "Pop Goes the Weasel" could do the whole thing, copying guinea pig noises , chopping sounds and kitchen noises, but as for talking, the same as your Tiel Jen, he could say "clever locco, clever boy and make kissing noises" (and that was with a houseful of kids and their friends) so your Tiel is talking Really Well :D .

See there I go again with way too much chatter

Oh yeah, gallah's make the most wonderful pet birds, Wacka was a real performer and could talk the pants of any grey in my opinion, cept he use to love eating garlic and then coming to kiss you, ewwww peewy. Kai just gets into the hot chillies, then when he kisses me, I really know about it, burning spot on the lip OUCH!

Ok thats really enough now :?

Does Chief "beak" things? That's what we call it when Milo just bangs his beak against things. He's constantly doing that to the floor of his play gym. It's funny at times but can get very loud and annoying. I think he does that to bother us when he feels he's not getting enough attention. You know the whistle you would do if you wanted to get someone's attention across the room or street? You know what the sound of that is? Milo does that all the time! It's so funny. Like he wants us to know he's here and he wants attention. And he wolf whistles like crazy. And it's so sweet cuz when I come from being gone the first thing he says-as he's clinging to the bars of his cage waitiing for me to let him out-is "I love you." He's just the sweetest little guy! Loves to have his neck scratched. Sometimes it's like his head weighs 200 pounds the way he slams it down when he wants his neck scratched. It's pretty funny. I just love my little Milo! They are a great bird if you handle them daily. And he lives on my lap when I'm home. But he's very afraid of anything new. He does not play with anything. I've got toys from when we first got him and we've had him almost four years. And he's afraid of new food too. So... But he's happy and healthy. And much loved. Jeepers have I rambled on about my little Milo or what. Sorry.

No, Chief is very laid back. Now that he has settled in, he is very tweety and playful. For two weeks I checked him for batteries... wasnt convinced he was real... just sit there. Now he is starting to show his personality and I have a feeling Baby is going to get a run for her money.

Peek-a-Boo is older and feels as if this is Babys house. Chief, like Baby only remembers here so he feels like it is his house too so he is starting to step to Baby. I hope he puts that little stuck up hussie in her place.

Kyria:

I am glad your baby is settling in. He copies your laugh? Peek-a-Boo does that and I dislike it VERY much. He creeps me out, dont know why
Does it you or do you like it?

Also: I wanted to see if anyone sees a problem with letting Baby play 'on' Chiefs cage. They want to inspect eachother but I dont like when they beak at one another. This way they can be close and both be safe.

Chief seems to like her climbing around and she sure likes doing it. If anyone is aware of any setbacks this may cause, please let me know. It is sort of like putting a kid in front of the TV... when they are on Chiefs cage they both stay put and I can work without distractions.

I know yall think I sit here and hold my birds all day but I actually earn a living  If you run my IP you'll see I am usually in the truck flying down the road going to show someone a property for sale.

You can tell when Im driving because my typing and spelling goes from bad to worse.

Chook copies mine and Jamie's laugh. He is quite good at it too. Sometimes it freaks me out a bit because I'll look for Jamie and realise its just Chook. He also imitates Jamie's smokers cough and likes to throw that in the mix too.

Chook climbs all over Max's (my untame, unfriendly 'tiel) cage. Max loves it except when Chook tries to eat his fruit and seed sticks. Then its war. Wild galahs and cockatoos also climb all over Max's cage and he calls them in all the time. In the end we hung up a seed bell over the top of Max's cage (its a suspended cage from our verandah). He goes nuts and chirps and whistles away happily when the birds come in.

Just watch them. Killer will bite HARD on any toes on HIS cage, lol. And he almost lost a toe himself when he landed on Skittles (my ex-lovebird) cage. That's when I offered Skittles to a friend.

I know that Hane would bite any bird sitting on his cage as well.

But Chief is still young, so he probably doesn't have that idea in his head yet. ^^
