my friend gave me an bird cage which he use to keep finches in (wich got eaten by his cat).
is there any way to get ridoff the rust and make it safe for a bird again.

I don't think a finch cage would be appropriate for IRN. and with the rust its going to be a whole lot cheaper to just buy a new cage. You would need to strip it all back and find the right paint that is not toxic to birds. I deleted your duplicate copies of this thread in other sections, please only start one of the same.

that's the reason the finches got eaten by a cat, it's not a finch cage, the cat stuck it's paw through the bars.

edit-Avin Web.com says that the secret to removing rust is tea bags, has anyone tried this?
and what's a safe paint? maby milk paint...
