hello, my name is Michelle and live in florida. i have 4, yes, 4 irn's- shiloh (albino) hannah, allister, and sweet pea. i have only had them one year. so i would guess they are 2 years old- all from pet stores. when i bought them, they were in terribly small cages, no tail feathers. i only bought them to save them such a horrible environment. i bought four flight cages and built a huge wooden play gym with wooden dowels on my screened porch, i really did not know what i was getting in to. i love them, but two i have gotten to step up and they are very docile. one is coming along slowly, and one is the most evil little critter i have ever met. such a scared little bird. i have taken them to the vet 3 times for check ups and they are beautiful now. i have read about identifying which sex, but all three of my green irn's have very faint black rings, and my albino is much larger than the other 3. the 3 green ones are from the same clutch. is it possible they are all the same sex? they all hate each other, but will perch together for awhile until one starts in on another. when i clean their cages on the weekend, i make sure each bird goes into a different cage with different toys- rotate them for lack of a better word- is this ok or will this cause behavioral problems?
i know my post is getting long, but i have many questions- what is too cold for an irn?- i think of building an outdoor aviary adjacent to my screened porch, but i don't want indoor/ outdoor birds- it is one or the other.
need help from experienced irn owner
