Blue Male + Lutino Female

Post by Peachykeen »

Produced

4 babies: one yellow, one green, one blue, and one white.

Is there any chance that the yellow or white babies are male??

To get this offspring your parent birds must be 1.0 blue /ino x 0.1 ino /blue. Only blue x yellow wont produce this offspring.

so you get the following offspring

25.0% 1.0 blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 green /blue ino
25.0% 1.0 blue ino
25.0% 1.0 ino /blue

25.0% 0.1 blue ino
25.0% 0.1 ino /blue
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 green /blue

As you can see you will get yellow (ino) and white (blue ino) males and females.
So you have to sex them to be sure if they are males or females

Thanks - That really helps a lot- I have a guy that is wanting to swap babies. I have a gray split to Turq and he has a lutino... I just want to make sure I have a 50% chance to get a male.

Also- how acurate has anyone been with pelvic sexing just weaned babies. I have babies that have big gaps and some that have NO gap at all. But with the adults--- the gap is about the same..

Any thoughts on that one?

If you really have a visuell gray bird then this bird can't be split to turq. A gray bird also carries the blue gen. If the bird has the turq gen too then the bird must be a turq gray one. Do you have a picture of this bird?

Hey - Jay set me straight on the Turq and Gray gene. He explained about the gray being the dominant gene and there was no split.

All my babies look straight up gray or turq. No funny marbling or anything like that.

They are really pretty- some of the most clear turq I have ever seen personally- not too dark- not too light.

Will post a link when I get back from church of the babies just to show them off. I love them! IT IS SO HARD to let them go~ Suzanne
