how to feed new baby IRNs?
I bought two IRN babies that are about 4 weeks old and i am very new to feeding them...
I bought them the baby formula for real human babies
I am told to look for the "Sack" under their throat if its full then thats enough food...
i have one thats sack looks terribly full and he's always reaching out for my syringe that has food so he's scaring me ...the other one only asks for food when necessary and isnt greedy...
I am under the assumption feeding them should be 4 times per day ... however i am noticing that even though its 6pm and i just fed them (their sacks are big now) they still make the "yip yip" sound. do i just ignore it?
at what time do i feed them in the morning and at what time do i stop at night?
pls advise.

Their crop is kept full at the best of my abilities.
I still dont know how to estimate their age so i am attaching a picture perhaps someone can shed some light.
also even when they're done eating they still make the Yap Yap sound. What does that mean and is it ok to ignore it?
About 5 weeks old. It's normal for them to beg for more food even when full.

when you say "normal for them to beg for more food" does that mean the "yip yip " sound?
also, according to the time schedule in the other thread it says
42 - weaned
you estimated about 5 weeks so that equals 40 or so days...
do i still keep them on the formula? i know they arent fully able to eat so maybe the 5 weeks estimate is a bit off?
pls advise.

They do make that yip-yip sound when they beg for food. At 42 days, keep them on 1 feeding ONLY if they are starting to eat solid foods during the day, such as brocolli blossoms, chopped apples, cereals, chopped vegies, pellets, etc.

feeding schedule
I just got done feeding out my first baby IRNs, I have to say I looked carefully at both feeding scheduled offered on this site and in the end, I added 1 feeding a day and added several CC's to what was listed.
They did wean at 58 days which might have been a little much, but right up to 52 they were on 2 feedings a day and I was a lot more comfortable with that then what is posted.
In all, I think 65 days might have been a good time to wean, but got tired of chasing them all over the counter.

i am just going by the estimate of the picture about their age and like i said they are new to me
shall i switch them to solids?
(i may just wait until friday and start to chop up some apples and try that)
Switching to solids
The chicks you have pictured will require another 4-5 weeks of hand feeding formula. They are nowhere close to being weaned.
With that said, in addition to the hand feeding, once you get down to 3 feedings a day (still at least a week off), in addition to those three feedings per day, give them some soft fruits and veggies to play with. very small pieces of apple, grapes which are torn in half, fresh broccoli, and cooked, soft sweet potato that has been cooled. You don’t need a lot, just something for them to play with.
very slowly they will find it, play with it, and eventually eat a very small amount of it. Do not assume they are good to go and stop hand feeding.
Every week or ten days when you cut out one meal, increase the amount of food you are giving them. A good idea to monitor how they are doing is to spend time with them while you are cooling your formula and offer them by hand tiny morsels of food.
Once the birds are flying around your house like experts, the end of the hand feedings should be a week or so away. Dont rush it.
it is better to hand feed longer, then kill them accidently.
