Colour cross query

Post by emmad »

I currently have cockatiels but am looking to move out of them and into a pair of ringnecks.
Have been offered a pair with the supposed following colours but don't know IRN genetics to understand what colours are correct.

Cock bird is visual blue split gray?
Hen visual blue.

Other pair is:
Cock bird visual blue
Hen visual lutino

Assuming no other splits, babies on the first pair will be visual Blue. No such thing as split to Grey since Grey is a Dominant mutation. If a bird carries the Grey mutation, it will manifest it visually unless it is masked by the Ino gene.

So if any of these birds is carrying the Grey gene, it would likely be the Lutino hen. Otherwise, all babies on the second pair will be visual Greens.

Thanks. I wondered about the gray bit. The people reckon they've had gray babies from the first pair so i'm wondering if there is a possibility that the cock bird might be split for cinnimon.
