heatwave

Post by riantango08 »

hows everybody handling the heatwave, especially in south aus and victoria with these record temps.
hows everyone keeping themselves and birds cool,
were struggling, birds are outside with lots of water bowls and being hosed off every hour, fed frozen vegies and ice blocks (which is pointless as it melts in about 2 minutes)

also inside we have no air conditioning which isnt good when you have 2 1/2yr old who is a outdoors boy but cant go out as it is way to hot and a 6 week old who wants to be fed every 1/2hr(breastfeeding).

cant wait for the cool change to come through, which is supposed to be tonight but it wont be that much of a change as its still supposed to be in the high 30s over the next couple of days.

hope everyone is fairing well
take care and keep cool 8) 8) 8)

Yes, terrible weather.

I have been hosing my birds down to try and give a bit of relief. The indoor birds sure are enjoying the mod cons of airconditioners lol.

Doesn't look like there is any let up of this heat for some time yet either going by the forecast. :?

I was reading on another forum of a wildlife carer and they were saying an influx of wildlife due to heatstress and dehydration. Also a whole nursery of young flying foxes were wiped out in one are.

Very sad
