Meet my IRN: Ami

Post by djzenjen »

Ami is 9 months old. I am wondering how long it will be until she develops the ring around her neck? I have started to notice the feathers becoming darker in her neck area. She is so cute!

Aww! Look at that baby face!! What a cutiepie!! :D Ami looks so cheeky!!
Male IRNs develop a ring around 2 - 3 years of age.. or second moult usually. Some can be early and some later, but generally around 2 years maturity. Females do not have a ring but a slight discolouring may be seen, but not as striking as the males.
Telling the sex of IRNs under maturity is hard.. and you can only guess... but by the looks of Ami, she is looking boyish!
