You've discovered one of the best ways to get a bird to eat something good- you eat it too!
Birds are flock animals and like to eat with their flock, and they learn from example. They want to eat with you, and eat what you eat- I had a bird land in my cereal once, LOL!
Now you'll be able to introduce Bella into new foods by tasting them yourself. Perhaps she'll even learn to like them enough and eat them on her own.
I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay

Sunflower seeds especially because they contribute to aggression in ringnecks. I know this for a fact because my Baby loves them, thereby making me give them to her as treats. I learned sunflower seeds lead to aggression and stopped. Within a week, never a lunge or a bite. Before, she was WAY more unpredictable.
I still cant get any of my babies to eat pellets. Grrr.
Thank you for sharing that site.
Birds CANNOT live off seeds alone and I believe far too many owners are unaware of this fact.
i totally agree, but i sympathise with them to find the time to cook there babies food but then again they should have thought about it, eventally i want to make her that mush stuff full of beans, pasta, veggies etc... monday comes around ill take a trip to the health food shop!
HERE IS THE RECIPCE FROM THAT SITE
ITS NOT MY OWN! BUT IS AWESOME
Buy a variety of organic peas and beans and make your own soak-and-cook mix.( Soak the beans at least four hours if not overnight; drain off the soak water and rinse the beans before proceeding with the cooking.) Add organic brown rice, quinoa pasta or seeds. Mix in fresh seasonal vegetables like carrots, broccoli stems and leaves (not the parts you eat), green beans, new and/or sweet potatoes, yellow corn, okra, kohlrabi, a variety of fresh greens and squashes.
You can select from a variety of spices. Try minute amount of kaolic or powdered garlic and powdered onion (not garlic salt or onion salt). If your bird likes them, or is battling chronic pain, dump in some of the hottest peppers you can find — enough to make your nose and eyes hurt. (Parrots don't have salivary glands, so they get to relish the spicy taste without the sting.)
Add some oregano (it contains rosmarinic acid, which offers antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiviral properties) and basil (which contains many antiviral compounds). Add white or black pepper, but not a lot if you already threw in peppers.
Add enough water to cover the beans, rice, pasta and much of the veggies. Cook until the beans are al dente. (In my microwave that's about 50 minutes.) And mush together. Make big batches ahead of time, store them in in individual containers and freeze them (a real time-saver)
Great recipe huh?

There is so much I want to improve in my babys lives. What they eat is one thing, and giving them an outdoor play area is the other. Oh and more toys, and their own credit card and a car and.. oh wait. Fids not Kids.
And through the main part of the site (www.landofvos.com) there are recipies for birds. Just cut them in half if you want, since they were created with ekkies in mind (bigger bird, lol).
Ekkies have very efficient digestive systems since their natural food do not have a high nutritional value they have to get the most out of it. So they have trouble with pelleted and 'fortified' diets since they can absorb too much. So ekkie recipies are very healthy for birds, since fresh foods and homemade makes up the majority of an ekkie's diet (if not all).

My ringnecks are the best eaters I have, none of them turn their beaks up at anything...?
I cant imagine them not eating pellets, when Maz came to me she had been on a seed diet, I introduced pellets and she was eating them right away.
I feed 2-3 fresh meals a day to the IRN's, depending on how late the evening meal is, because they tend to go to bed early... and are very early risers.
Try Pommegranite if you havent yet... you end up with stained birds, but they LOVE it.
