Quarintine???
ok so ive had ruski for about a week now and she has sort of been out when my other birds (espes nibbler) have been out and they have been hanging out.... now i know everyones gonna have a go about quarintining etc but i just wanted to know if the chances of this bird (ruski) having something are high aside from the smelly feathers and what looks liek an old injury on her chest she looks fine, she eats well (and anything espescially if its on your plate) and seems to be fine....... can i at least put her cage in the same room as the others so they can see each other during the day when im at work?

Well I guess if ruski and nibbler have already been hanging out together then chances are if anything was to be passed on then it will have already happened.
Have you taken ruski to a vet for a complete check up? That way you will know if there are any nasties present. If not then you could safely house them together.
I personally think that if ruski was kept in such condition that smelly feathers and old injury were present then chances would be increased that other diseases could also be there, compared to a bird who was properly looked after by the breeder/shop.
The choice is your really if you choose to put them together or not.
Just keep in mind that if there is something wrong with ruski, it is much harder to treat all birds rather than just one.

we learnt this week exactly how important quarantine is we bought a finch from the same shop we got general from 2 weeks ago lst night it just dropped dead matty was in the room at the time it just fell off the perch & died no warning at all today when i got home his breeding pair ( umi & random were both dead im just glad that i have held fast with the quarantine with general im keeping a close eye on him and washing bbefore entering the room with the others in it and am super vising the finches closley all the finches apart from the one we got 2 weeks ago we had were directly from the breeder and he has had no diseases in his flock in the whole time he has been breeding them ( close family friends )

The quarantine period for birds is about 45 days.
That's enough time to closely observe your bird's health and behavior.
And keep your flock in a safe distance.
