Another colour outcome question.

Post by lovemybirds »

I bought a pair of breeding IRN's.

I am told they are Skyeblue (which is blue cinnamon???) Hen and
Green Cinnamon Cock

I was told that they have produced skyblue, cinnamon, Green & something else I can't remember :? She also told me all babies would be split for cinnamon.

Does this sound correct?

Thanks! :D

Because both parents are Cinnamons, then all offsprings will be visual Cinnamons, NOT split Cinnamons.

Green Cinnamon/Blue cock x Blue Cinnamon hen
=Blue Cinnamon cocks and hens
=Green Cinnamon/Blue cocks and hens.

All Green Cinnamons will be split Blue and you won't get plain Green birds from this pairing. Not genetically possible.

If what the breeder said is true (that they had produced Skyblues in the past), then your male is definitely Green Cinnamon split Blue.

Since Blue is recessive, the Blue gene has to come from both parents to be able to produce Blue offsprings. The hen is visual Blue so the male has to be a split.

Hope that helps.
