I want to figure out if my Indian ring neck is a girl or boy
I have a blue form of a indian ring neck. The bird is almost 6 months old, and I was wondering if there is any way to tell at this stage the sex of the bird with out harming it. And also how do i post a picture so that way i can show you all?

hey there oh your ringneck looks like mine expect mines a little bit more electric blue! and mines only 7 weeks! ummm the only way you can know the sex of the bird at that age is by DNA testing a vet should be able to do it but i would know the price of it..... at about 1 year to 3 years if they get a dark ring around there neck their a boy! if it stays light its a girl!
im not to sure about the photo question yet! someelse might be able to help u with that one!

Hi
Hi! Some around here can tell if you give us a larger photo by the way a bird sits. Maybe posting a larger photo can get results. Most of the time we are right
However, of course, there is nothing better than a DNA test so don't get so caught up on someone's take on your bird. Some females have been know to do very male things and vis versa...

According to beak placement, I would absolutely say female.
If you'll notice, males have much flatter beaks whereas girls have beaks that extend out much further.
This is my method of visually sexing and I havent been wrong yet, though Im sure one of the lil boogers will make a lie out of me eventually. HA!

nope. I don't even bother trying to visual sex Ringnecks as there is no accurate way of doing it.
Lovebirds on the other hand, i can sex visually when they are 5-6 months old
ok I was thinking it was a girl, but i guess we shall have to see because i wish not to pay 45 dollars just to know a fact.
Some say a bird talking is unnatural, but i think that it is cool. But since i have a female, probably, who is quiet all day and only makes calls in the morning which are far and few, Can i get my baby to mimic words. And How do I do so. thanks.
