Hello,
I listened to the ringneck "practicing talking" on your website and my ringneck sounds just like that. I have been wondering if he is practicing or trying to talk? He name is Jacques and is 7 months old. I can't wait till he talks (if he does). He makes sounds all the time that sounds like he is trying. What do you think? Is this a good indication that he/she will talk? Thank you, Michelle

Talking
I don’t know if it’s talk practice; however, I am pretty sure it’s that. My wild Ringnecks never exhibit this behavior. They usually make natural bird sounds and never make that mumbling sounds. I believe that most people who claim they have Ringnecks talking at 5-6 months have very gifted talkers. I have talked to several owners who say they start at around a year. Mine only whistles and says a very fuzzy but high pitched hello. His brother who is owned by another member here just says hello. They are 8 months and going on 9. Whistling can be picked up really early though. I had mine whistling at 6-7 months.
Just give your Ringneck time and make your vocabulary very colorful. Once they start they pick up words faster and faster. Enjoy the silence now for you might wish you never taught him/her to talk.
Hope this helps!
