Yes, the rare echo parakeet, i may eventually be getting one as i did not have the time to get a closer look at the birds. The only external difference is the shorter tail but i was told it has the same behavior as the IRN

Hello and welcome! Goodluck and I hope you find some good advice here. Can you keep Echos as pets if they are endangered? I hope someone has set up a breeding program for them. Would be a shame to loose such a beautiful bird.
Mauritius looks amazing. Wish I could take a trip there!

yes and the breeding program was very successful
They started with about 12 birds and have now reached 500
It is supposed to be endangered, but i know a lot of people who do so and haven't got any problems plus no one ever mentioned that we're not allowed to keep them
I'm sure they have been captive bred though

Hi and Welcome. I am a newbie too!

I have been to Mauritius. When i was young 8yrs old. We had a stop over, when we moved from South Africa to Australia. It is a beautiful place. The water is incredible. I can remember wearing the jelly shoes all those years ago.

Sorry about my babble..

I hope to see heaps of pics.

Glad to have you with us and hope we can help with any questions you have. It's great to see people doing their research before buying a pet. :D

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
