Picking a female

Post by FGM »

I would like to get Jangles a female, not to breed but just for company.
Do blue males prefer blue females or do they have no preference.
I would like a grey as I like the colour but wondered if he would like a blue like himself?

I think they say its easier to pair same colours, but that is just a general rule. If you prefer a grey I would go for it. No matter what colour you cannot be guaranteed they will get along anyway. Introduce them to each other slowly, after quarantine, keep the new bird in a cage in the same room as your current bird, let them see and hear each other and get use to each other with the cage as a barrier, then introduce them slowly with monitored visits together.

Nature will probably have them mating in the future anyway.
