My Baby is moulting so noone pick on her for looking ragidy... she is very sensitive shhhh. We all pretend not to notice.

Just look at that face, she loves to please me. She is so precious. I love Peek-a-Boo so much but Baby is my girl, I know that sounds awful but Baby just has a certain something about her. Or maybe it is because I raised her as a 3 week old chick. I love them both and spend equal time with them just doing different things. When I taught Baby this, Peek-a-Boo was having her shoulder time.

Please dont think I love one more than the other. I am simply more attached to Baby. I get to baby Baby haha. Peek-a-Boo just wants to sit and look pretty. Baby plays all day long.

I just kept on saying give me five baby until she finally laid her hand in mine then I praised her to death and kept on and on and on until now she does it everytime I ask, on command. These birds are not mindless mimics, they know exactly what you want, whether you get it or not is up to them and their hidious attitude.

She loves to please though. Look at that face in the second pic, she is happier than me

That’s quite an achievement. I think I can see a smile in the second pic. Just waiting for Zazu to finish his malt he’s a bit moody. There is something melika said in a previous topic that I don’t understand. How long was hanes malt???? she said he was fully malted in 26 weeks that makes him a record-breaker because they start their malt at about 5 to 6months which is 24 to 28weeks that only gives him 2weeks to complete a full malt a bit mind boggling for me I cant seem to find the post again. Maybe she just miss typed or does a malt only last 2 weeks for IRNs?????? melika could you maybe get back to me on that????

I remember Datsuns first moult. She was UGLY! I thought it would last forever but when I worked it out she looked great again in about 4 weeks... she was 3 or 4 months old then.

Yeah.
He molted everything with the exception of his tail, which he still has today- and I believe that was also in my post. It didn't take him long at all to finish, especially when I pet him and scratched his head to help the pin sheathes come off.
I wouldn't think it's a record. 0_o

I tried doing that to Baby gently and it made her head bleed

If I dont end up killing her, I sure will know alot about Irn's before it is all over with  I am too curious, thereby making me do things like that to see the outcome. When I noticed a little dot of blood I freaked.

She knows I suck at being maternal so she just puts up with me until I get it right. I am pretty sure she has learned to sigh and roll her eyes. That is my trademark. If I got smacked in the mouth for that once as a child I know I got it a million. Talk about ATTITUDE. I am trying to learn to bring myself down to a simmer rather than a roiling boil. The older you get the more you realize alot of stuff just doesnt matter. And that is ok. She actually has more patience with me than I with her. Hey... wait a minute... who is the Mom here she or I!? hahaha

Its official! She absolutely knows what she is doing with the hi five thing. I walked up to her first thing this morning and said "give momma five baby" Bam, on command. She is more proud of herself than I am.

Moral of the story is: Watch things your baby does naturally, then try to turn it into a trick they will do on command. Baby stretched her feet alot so I turned that into a trick she does on command. Get it? Why do I feel as if I am making no sense this morning. In other words, when I saw her stretching I would go to her and say gimme 5 baby and put my hand to hers. Now, I say gimme 5 and she puts her hand in mine.

She loves the way I say Yaaaay baby dats a good girl! while clapping softly. I swear I can see a smile on her face.

It's amazing how you can see them smiling even though they have beaks. :D That's so great Mikaela! I'm going to try that with Ruby once he stops being so scared of my fingers.

I've been trying the treat thing, trying to make him come to me for it, but still no luck :( he stands there looking at it, expecting me to give it to him. After a while I feel bad taunting Ruby and just let him have it. *sigh*

The smile truly is amazing. I wonder if they actually smile with there eyes. It is great though, nothing like seeing them so happy.
