Change perches regulary?

Hi I was just wondering if i should change the perches positions around regulary in the cage to stimulate their brains, or do ringnecks prefer their cage to stay the same for security?

any comments on this with your experience would be appreciated as i've read to change their perches positions regulary (which might stress them out).. and also read not to change their cage around.

Ive heard both sides. Some say changing the cage around is good for a change, but then sometimes it can stress them out. I know that I can not change Jibbys cage around. He hates it and wont go sleep in his cage if I do. Do have a variety of different sized perches and textures to help trim the nails and beaks.

personaly I leave my cage perches the same (my fids have their fav spot perch in the cage for night time and rest time) but I change the branches in the bird room around. Or I build new play stands for the room from branches, for interest and stimulation. Alot of the time I will grab bunches of herbs or cut branches from fruit tree's and place them around the play stands so they can climb and chew at them.

Wow, really impressed with your post and it’s a good question! I am really happy you thought about stimulating your parrot’s brain! This is a topic that is not covered very much!

As some other members posted here, it is totally up to you! I do move my cages around and do rearrange toys and purchases. It’s so funny seeing Archimedes figuring things out. He just kind of explores until he finds everything. I always make it a point to take Archimedes to the park or let him interact with people—this seems to be stimulation enough. So to answer your question, if your ringneck is young, I would start moving things around because in my opinion it helps create a less phobic bird. It will help him adjust to new objects in the future without being too scared.

To stimulate your ringneck, treat him like a little child and show him things and play games with him. You’ll be amazed at what he learns.

I constantly change perches and toys but I always leave the favorite perch and toy right where they are (and repurchase as needed) that way he has new things and also something that's familiar to him.
