The design of the cockatiel cages are not, I repeat NOT appropriate for IRN's as the bars that bend around the edges are far too easily moved apart with only just a little pressure of a bird trying to escape it, and the bars of your cage look so thin that movement would be even easier.
The bars move apart and close back together around the birds neck and the will not be able to escape.
the cockatiel has a smaller head and can poke it in and out freely, the IRN has a larger head and is much stronger, and this is why the IRN gets stuck and the cockatiel doesn't.
You need to get a cage with the proper guage bars and the correct spacing or you will end up with a dead bird next time.
Sorry to be so blunt but thats the way it is.
"Thick bars so they are firm and do not bend or move and no more than a 1/2 Inch spacing"

the cage may look misleading but the bars do not move even by hand, its a brass cockatoo cage,i agree the bars must be too wide but they are no way flimsy,he/she was immediately removed from the cage and is now in a smaller one.
