My Byndi has started to play with the toys in his cage

Post by jen5239 »

Hey everybody!
Byndi has started to play with the toys in his cage last night! I know that HAS TO BE A GOOD SIGN!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited! I know I'm such a big dork! But I've been so worried since I brought him home. He doesn't make a lot of noise. Every once in a while he sounds like a jungle bird but mostly he just makes this adorable little noise that almost sounds like he's trying to say hi. I hope he's okay since he's not making any kind of other noises???

That is SO good. Now be careful not to bother him everytime he plays just yet. Otherwise, he will associate his playing with having to deal with you  I know that sounds bad but he is a wild animal.

So let him aclimate a little longer. He sure is coming along!

Thanks Mikaela!
My eyes did tear up when I realized he was chewing on the toy that's been in his cage since Sunday. He really went to town on it last night. I didn't even go over to the cage when he was playing. Just sat in my chair and watched and smiled. Such a proud Mom I am! MAYBE by this time next week I MIGHT be able to hold him. That would be way cool. Like I said, I don't even care if he's not lovey, just so he'll step up when need be and not tear a limb off if you try. I want him to be out and be able to hang on his "patio" perch and play on his playground and I REALLY want to get him a big ol cage. But I'm not going to do that until he's come around. Keep fingers crossed! I just love him so!

Wow Byndi sure has come around! What you are doing now is good. I hope he will turn out to be a nicer bird than he's shown lol. Congrats on getting this far...now it's only a huge leap of faith on his part...

Hey Dani,
I still can't get in to his cage yet. He's a little skitty today. He's not wanting anyone around him. And he definitely DOES NOT like when my dogs are rough housing. They're noisey when they do that. Guess he's just going to have to get used to that. He's making some very interesting noises! I want to hold him soooooooo badly! But I haven't even attempted anything like that since last Sunday. I'm thinking of TRYING sometime this weekend. I just sometimes feel that I take one step forward with him and two back. :? I just want to reach in there and grab him and make him realize that I love him and wouldn't do anything in this world to hurt him. But I can't. So keep your fingers crossed for us. I think tomorrow I'm going to leave his cage door open and go from there. See what he does. Thanks so much for all your words of encouragement. This is such a GREAT SITE! I don't know what I'd have done if not for all of you. Probably driven the 3 1/2 hours back to return him. And cried and cried! Chat later.
