Lories are little feathery balls of pure energy. Sometimes they get on with other birds but the can be nippy and aggressive to other birds as well. so with an irn I would be extremely careful as irn can also be aggressive towards other birds.

Lories CANNOT eat seed or anything like it they are strictly nectar and fruit only. They do make a Lorie pellet this is the only pellet they can eat but should not be their sole sorce of food. They do not have the ability to digest seed and other solids; these things can actually kill them so if your lorie and irn get along you still need to keep an eye on the lorie to make sure it does not get a hold of seed or pellet from the irn. They can never be in the same cage as it would be unhealthy to put an irn on a lories diet and lethal to the lorie to eat any irn foods. That being said lories can eat soft veggies on occasion.

The poop is something you will have to learn to live with. It is runny and sticky because they eat fruit and nectar. Getting this stuff called poop off will help with the cleaning. Lories tend not to poop in their cages so having room around the side with either tile or a plastic sheet is necessary because they can ruin a carpet.

I myself have wanted a lorie for some time but the mess was always my concern. A friend of mine has a black caped that is so much fun. She sets aside 10- 15 minutes a day to clean up after Jackson and she has no problems with the mass building up into a huge weekend project. When she has him out she caries wet wipes to clean up his little messes; she also wears a towel over her shoulders to keep from having to change cloths. Now Jackson cannot be around other birds at all he once went from my friends arm to my shoulder to attack a bird at let twice his size that was fiercely defensive of me. Luckily for everyone involved he quickly realized his mistake and went running back to his momma. It was funny because he actually was yelling momma momma on his way to her.

Lories are fun birds to have. They have a long bristly tongue and love to explore with it especially the babies. The will stick that tongue in your ear, nose, eye, and sometimes your mouth; anything that looks like a flower until they learn that your face is not a flower. They make some very cute sounds and when excited they are so funny as they hop around squeaking and chirping as they play. If you get one and come home to find it in its food bowl on its back with its eyes closed to be scared they sleep like that a lot. These birds love to play, eat, and sleep on their backs. Lories can be loud some of them have a very high pitched shrill that is just ear piercing and they can do that often.

hope this helps.
