I don't know what to do. She starts screaming as soon as I get home until I get her out of her flight aviary. She's fine as long as I'm paying her attention and we do have at least 1/2 hour of cuddles. Then I feed her fresh veg & fruit and then I put her on her perch where she can see me.
This is where it really starts. If she's not on me she screams. If my hubby talks to me, she screams. I then put her out to her aviary and she hasn't stopped screaming yet, and it's now 7pm. The sun's about to go down. PLEASE SHUT UP Cricket. I'm going to get complaints from the neighbours.
Please, any suggestions would be great. Hubby says we'll have to put the aviary closer to the house.... ummmm, I don't know.... I think that'll be even noisier and worse if we do that.
BB will carry on a little bit but I just tell him to shut up and ignore him. when he mutters to himself thats when i pay attention but thats the behaviour i want to capture so i reward it with attention
i notice he screams more if he can see outside - so perhaps thats part of your problem
I have the same problem with Jibby. This is my fault, I spoiled him too much, gave him what he wanted and ran to him whenever he screamed for my attention. Hes had 6 years of knowing exactly how to get what he wants. But only started the screaming in the last year. So glad I found this board!
I'm now trying to stop this screaming by only paying attention to him when hes quiet or talking. Seems mean, but its kind of working. Tonight, he wanted a piece of my dinner, so he screamed non stop for a long time, was painful to ignore him, but had to be done, he didnt get any because he was bad. Same goes with bedtime, I give him a cuddle and put him in his cage for bed.. He then screams for more cuddles. I ignore and he eventually goes to sleep. Hes getting better and still getting lots of cuddles, but only when hes a good boy!
Sounds like Cricket is screaming for attention or you. Id ignore it, but still give Cricket attention only when quiet because after all they do need love. Hope you can find something that helps. I'm going along with this plan. It seems to be working.. slowly. I live in a tiny unit block. I'm paranoid about neighbours telling the landlord so I can understand.

Thanks for all the replies people. Yeah, I figured the hard road will be the only one that works, and driving the neighbours crazy will be hard, cause I'm lucky enough to count them as friends.
I was thinking about bidding for a clicker on e-bay. Believe it or not, I've tried all the pet shops AND party shops for a clicker. None stock them in Darwin. Strange hey? But anyway, I'll keep you guys posted.
I would love to get to any of your neighborhoods! But, count your blessings.... all of my birds are in my living room. Think the little birdie hormones are running rampant, because everyone is much noisier than usual, but they have learned that "talking" will get my attention and screaming will not. Fortunately I have a tree with a nest of crows outside, so the neighbors can't always tell if the racket is my crew or the wild ones. I may be deaf before I am 60, but that is another story
