Hello all..

My name is Anthony and i just picked up myself a hand reared lutino ringneck for myself and my girlfriend. This is our first bird so we are quite excitted.
At the moment he chatters away when he is alone but when someone comes into the room he just makes a single squawk and whenever anyone comes close he leans towards with he beak open.

I have been letting him do his own thing and go in and out of the cage and he approaches me on his own accord every now and again.

Does this sound like he is happy and am i doing the right thing?

Welcome to this board & congrats on your new bird!

Spend as much time with your little bird as you can; talk to him often as well. Using familiar words consistently will help him to learn words for when he's ready to talk. You can offer him snacks/treats and toys...this lets your little bird know you're being friendly. Soon once you bring out a treat he'll come right out to you...Good luck!
