Book Review

Post by yellowralph »

Hiya,
As promised (although a day late)
Review of :
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... s&n=507846

The book is more of a DYI'ers guide than anything else, yes there are some quick solutions to parrot toys (mops, leather, rawhide, it covers these extensively).

The book approaches the toys by the type of toy i.e. Puzzler Toy, Preening toy, Gym. and so on. It goes into how to make these toys and the approaches and the safe way to go about doing it. It will also help you save dollars as it names everyday items that can be used in building the toys and what not. Keep in mind that although some of the gym build guides are quite poor (they overuse PVC), PVC imho is bad for the bird (well not bad but a poor substitue for wood), it seems they have taken the quick approach to building gyms, however you can quite easily transfer the plans (sketches rather) to wooden/branched items you pick up yourself.

All in all its not a *great* book, it is worth picking up/ borrowing however as you will get ideas from it that are worth pursuing if you are inclined or are simply looking for something new for your parrot.

I can transcribe some of the ideas into the forums if you guys want to see some contents.

Cheers
