How I spent my afternoon

Post by Kateykat »

We went down to visit my in laws this weekend, a thing I loathe doing. The only good thing about going is that I get to jump in the car and travel around the various pet stores/supply stores that they have down there, solo. There is only one place that I go into that actually sells birds and this is usually where I spend most of my time (face pressed embarrassingly close to the bars talking to the birds looking like a crazy person). They had a cage full of IRN babies as well as this one super duper cute Alexandrine baby. OMG! I must have spent about an hour talking to this little (big) guy. He was so goofy and practically mushed himself through the bars begging for pats. Such a sweet guy it broke my heart to leave him there, cause he was making cute little puppy noises as I was walking away. One thing I did do while I was in there though, was point out to the staff that he shouldn't have been in with the IRN babies, who were giving him hell. Pulling his leg band and chewing his tail. I was very surprised that he hadn't hurt any of them, his beak being so much bigger then the IRN's. I think I would have just bought him home if it wasn't for the ridiculous price they wanted, $650!! I know this cause I asked them. I can't get over what pet stores expect people to pay for their birds. Poor little guy, I can't imagine anyone buying him for that price. But he was a sweetie though.. he has given me a Major case of the I wants though

Life is tough, and if you have the ability to laugh at it you have the ability to enjoy it.

aww !
you're so not the only one who gets right up there and talks to the birds. I was talking to a white eyed conure at the petstore the other day and i swear people prolly thought i needed help! lol but i don't talk to those babies any different then my own. She must've really liked me b/c boy was she upset when i left.
