Gwennie-there are a number of shelters around, sometimes finding them can be difficult. One of the avian boards I check in to occasionally has a section (thread) for rescues and shelters--pm me and I'll send you the link. I have it bookmarked on my computer at school so I can't give it to you now but if you pm me, i won't foget! Also luck., Sue's suggestion of checking with your vet is a good one. You might also go to birdboard and ask...you can also ask gfor rec's on avian certified vets in your area. I also know a fwe people with shelters in FL. maybe they have a network and could refer you to soeone in you area? Where are you?
good luck, it is a good thing you are doing.

I was actually going to do this very thing but ODDLY enough, there wasnt a real need here.
Also, as I started thinking about it, I realized, why expose myself and Baby to such if the need isnt great? Here, the need is for temp housing mostly. You take the bird home to foster it until placement.
That wont work for me, it would end up my bird.
I scratched it off my Karma list.
