Dani how is your Aggie doing?

Missi We are just starting to get in the fall colors up here it won't be long till we see the white stuff fallen. Oh as for the macaw flying well he keeps his wings trimed himself by pulling them out. Thats why he earned the nickname butthead. Don't know why but he just pulls wing feathers out.

Ooo I love when the leaves change! I also love the crisp smell of fall. I'm jelous! lol

I'm sorry to hear the macaw plucks his wing feathers :( The only reason I asked about him flying is because my Eclectus, Jasmine, flies and she has her wings clipped!

Missi who clipped your Ekkie's wings? Sometimes breeders will clip their babies wings after they have fledged but only a few of them so they can learn how to land safely. When she gets older you can trim more but they still must be able to glide to the floor and not land like a rock. I always try to trim the first 4 to 6 flight feathers about a 1/2 inch. The bigger birds don't need that much. The heavier the body the less you have to trim.
