At bottom of cage...

Ok ya'll:

I am totally freaking out. I went to see India this morning and she was sitting at the bottom of her cage. I heard that was a VERY bad sign. I took her from her cage and spent some time with her and she nippled on some millet. I then placed her atop her cage on her play gym. She hung out there for maybe 10 minutes then went back into her cage. Any other time she would sit there and play til the cows come home. This time though, she went in her cage and choose her regular sleeping place and went night-night.

Normal behavior or a freaked out mom, you be the judge. I noticed a tail feather in her cage too. Second one she lost this week. She is 13 weeks old. Do they shed (I know the answer is probably no).

Any assurance, advice is appreciated. I have an anxiety disorder and stuff like this consumes me with awful thoughts and fears.

i only have my experiance with pea to go by and he only just lost a featheron his first molt(dont know if i spelt that right?)which was just a couple of monthes ago,Do you have a good vet you can go to? I think that my vet thinks i am a mad woman because i phone and ask stuff all the time,but i am sure that they will understand because you have no experiance to compare it to!The vet i go to has a really helpful web site

Did you know that the fumes from non-stick ironing board covers and frying pans is piosonous to our IRNs?or check that your kids have not fed india anything that will make her sick like chocolate or advocado,seeds in fruit????give her a cuddle from me and get well soon!

I figured out the tail feather problem. For gods knows what reason, she likes to torment the cat. Not the slightest bit scared of it, in fact she antagonises it. So, kitty catches her asleep with her pretty little tail feathers sticking out oh her HUGE cage (but she chooses to sleep right at the door) and BOOM! gets a little revenge hehe. But, from now on if the bird has to be caged while I am away, it wont kill the cat to be in another room either. Thanks for caring.

Hi! Sounds like she behaves very differently from what she used to. I would advise that you bring her to the vet for a check. I have lost my bird once and always regretted not reacting to the situation fast enough (even though it might not save him at that point in time).

I just wanted to let ya'll know that India is better. I suppose like us, they have days where they dont feel very well. It shows in birds whereas with other pets, you may not pick up on it.

She is taking food from my hand with her talon now. Think Imma try to teach her high five because she uses her hands very 'human like'. Meaning she usually dont take stuff from you with her mouth but with her hand. Cute actually.

I hope the cat didn't posion her a bit! if she's loose and the cat is loose very bad idea when you're not there to supervise! even for 5 seconds!
I hope she's feeling a lot better! when they molt too they can get cranky and act differently, it's not a good feeling when feathers are coming in! Mine have been very quiet and eating a lot more when molting

definatly call the vet and ask questions though! it doesn't take much to upset their little systems
