Mallory has gone to a new home

Post by angie »

Just to fill those in that don't know. Mickey and Mallory were a pair that I rescued from being set free that were supposedly a breeding pair. They actually turned out to be both female (knew within the first 2 days just by their actions). My pet boy kai fell in love with mickey and they went off to breed, leaving Mallory alone in a cage by herself with nothing to do and not tame enough to be handled.

So I was contemplating what to do with her, clip her and tame her or give her to a breeder so she can do what she should be doing, breeding and flying free in a full aviary with other wild breeders.

I Wanted to give her away but the breeders down here are wonderful to amateur owners. You can't just give her away, you have to sell her, its just the way.

Erik my buddy with the ekkie couldn't place her, so while I was in inverloch last night dropping kids off at a big Concert I decided to drop in on carmel, I had gone to look at her birds just for fun after seeing an ad in the paper. She has great aviaries and feeds fresh fruit and vegis aswell. I remembered her saying she was having troubles getting blue's to breed on. She wasn't home so I left a note.

She called today and asked how much I wanted for her, again I said, I don't know what they are worth I got her for free so, ... she said "well you have to give me a price", so I said $50, I hear .. "IS THAT ALL" I'll leave now to come get her. LOL

And just like that Mallory has gone to where she can fly free and wild and breed like she is desperate to.

Kai was very protective and telling Carmel and myself off while we transferred cages.

After Mallory went, the bird room was silent for about 30 min. I am sure they didn't want to be the next ones to go, coz Mallory was rather noisey, all that calling and squeeking for a mate. lmao .. poor babies must have thought they were next. So none of them made a peep.

Well I feel better for Mal and Hubby has one less to worry about while I am away. And I have put the 50 away towards spending on my trip.

I'm sorry she had to go, but I'm sure she's going to be happy. Just not as happy as she would've been with you Angie! I know you placed her in a good home tho'. So she'll be happy.

Hugs,
Jen

Angie:

shows you have the best interest of the bird at heart. Keep in touch with that breeder. You may get a bargain on a new baby when she hatches her first clutch.
