Most birds can't catch our colds...there are some things they can but not the common cold

I always hear that answer and I always wonder what can they catch from us? Just curios I cant find anything when I search for info about it. does anyone know what it is that we can give our birds. Im sure if its that bad that it crosses over we would probably be in a hospital but I have no idea.
