Quarantine new flock members

Post by Donna »

This is a subject that I think needs to be addressed. I have read about so many people on this site and others bringing in new birds and never quanantine them from their other birds untill they can get them to a vet and have them tested for deadly diseases. In my opinion you are playing russian roulette with the birds you already have. It's a practice that I do everytime I bring a new bird into my house. If you ever had to watch a bird suffer from Polyoma or PBFD you would be more careful about bringing other birds into your exsiting flock. Just something to think about when you see that cute little thing in the pet shop and you just got to have it. Thanks Donna

Yep...good point to bring up Donna...quarantining is an important thing that a lot of new fid owners forget. If you have no room to quarantine...I'd say be sure to make an appointment that day you bring the fid home...

Thanks Dani We have had alot of new members added to this board and for some of them It's their first bird and you know how that MBS gets around. I would just hate that they bought a second bird without knowing the dangers. I would feel personally responsable if I didn't speak out. I just love this board and everybody on here. Thanks again Donna
