IRN will not open her eye...

Post by Mikaela »

Hey ya'll:

Concerned Mom here... India will not open her left eye. She has had it closed since she was taking a bath earlier. Could she have scrathed it? Am I over-reacting?

Also, her feathers are trimmed but she can still get some pretty good flight (half across the room). She NEVER lands good. Always with a thud and sometimes she just flies into a wall or someone. I am so worried she will hurt herself. Again, her wings are clipped and she can't fly far but she tries to fly and do things she isn't capable of doing. I know I need to let her out and play and be with me but I am scared she is going to hurt herself. Again, am I over-reacting? I think I love her too much for her own good. My first real baby was ALOT easier than this.

HI.

She may have scratched it during bathing time but it would be safer to g it checked out by a vet. You could try opening it your self for her. You should only have clipped her wings after she had learnt how to fly and land properly. This is a common mistake that most people make when they get a young bird.
I have read some of your other posts. females do have a much nastier bite and i think she may be going through the "bluffing" stage this means that 9 times out of 10 she will only be pretending to bite (a tip DO NOT pull away when she goes to bit. blood will only be drawn if she is allowed to lung and scrape you with her beak.) keep this in mind even though females bite a lot harder like I said before.
You should go and see the breeder because he has mislead you and threaten to press charges if he dose not compensate you in some way (I don’t mean to give the bird back because it doesn’t take long to have you heart stolen by these magnificent birds. I for one would not stand for such insolence (I would go round and show him a thing or tow) females are much harder to befriend but once you have gained their trust you have friend for life.

Good look with you bird.

Poor Breeders shoud die a horrible death...

Post by Mikaela »

You are right... this baby is only 8 weeks old. Thank god she can fly Ok but lands like a brick. To be honest, I don't see where her wings are even clipped. I got her last Sunday from a lady at a flea market booth. I had looked hi and lo for an IRN and couldnt find one, til the other day. Best part was, she was a baby! SOLD! Guess what? I have called the breeder 100 times if I have called her once and NEVER has she returned my call. When time permits, I am going to find her and when I do, I suggest she run... very guickly at that. I can't believe her. If I were a breeder I would want to know how all of my babies were throughout there lives. I am thinking of calling her today and leaving a messege saying India isn't with us anymore but I am afraid to speak that on my little birdie but I WANT THAT BREEDERS ATTENTION AND INDIA DESERVES IT. If and when I do find her, I am demanding to see my babies Moma and Daddy and where they were born. Also, I want proof of when my baby was born. I also want to know WHY she allowed me to take India at 8 weeks old. No wonder she hates me, I am a sorry excuse for her real Momma and she wasnt ready to leave her. India is only about 3-4 inches tall (at most) and weighs literally nothing.

Nonetheless, India is my baby. I adopted her and committed 30 plus years of my life to her. Regardless of her shady up-bringing haha I am still going to see to it she turns out happy, healthy, well-adjusted and most importantly FRIENDLY. I feel sorry for India to have came from a poor breeder and then have me as a Mom :( I have plenty of love and time (with her all day everyday) but no bird sense at all. Trust me though, I know how to read and reading I have done and will continue to do until I know how to take care of this precious being.

If I made any of you breeders mad then you must be a poor breeder too or you wouldnt be offended. This transaction did not take place as it should have. I dont know my knee from a hole in the ground when it comes to birds but I am well-versed, at this point, to give plenty of info on what a bad breeder is like.

Zoe, I can't figure out how to post here either. And like you probably, I'm good with computers.

Thank you for validating me as a bird Mommie. I swear my real babies were easier. I love her so much and feel bad that birds are caged anyway so she is extremely spoiled and is always out, unless Im sleeping or gone.

Lets see if someone may give us step by step instructions on how to post our babies. *big hugs*
