Saturday night my boyfriend and I took Baby (and his play gym) to Dairy Queen! It's one of those walk up, eat outside on the picnic tables ones. No dining inside. So we took him and I sat on a table while my bf ordered for us. People kept walking by asking what kind of bird he was ("Is it a cockatiel???!" "Can it talk???" "How old is it"). He got lots of attention but mummy held him close because cars kept coming and going right behind us.
Then we ate and took off to the beach near by. At that time it was about 9:30 pm so it was dark out but we took a lil walk. Baby started to get spooked by the sound of the waves so we left. Soon we'll take him to the beach during the day (that will make for some cute pics )!
Anyone else have adventures with their fids this weekend?

I took George to the coffee shop this morning (thats when he is in his best mood). Well every thing was great he had some bagel, and berry treats. Well about twenty minutes of being there he is just in heaven playing in the grass. A friend of mine showed up and George is actually behaving even letting her hold him. Well she tried to rub his head; he lunged at her (he didn’t bite her thank god) and became very upset. He fluttered to the ground I picked him up and got a squawking out, he then turned his back on me and there is my friend so he turns his back on her and there I am. This was just to cute I chuckled and George just started to sulk, after about 30 seconds of this he was back to himself. I love this bird he can be a little stinker. He is getting used to other people but they can only hold him and look but not touch.

I am so glad everyone is getting their babies out and about!
Reminder:
Try to avoid taking your bird around other birds. For example, pet stores, flea markets, others homes with new birds, places where they can contract disease.
I take my Baby everywhere but NEVER to the pet store and I always wash my hands very well after I return home from one.

Tiki goes with us every now and then to Grandma's house and enjoys sitting in his travel cage in the backyard, with me sitting right next to him of course. Every now and then I put him in the Pet Pocket Carrier and I have taken him to pick my daughter up from school or to the store or his most unfavorite place - to get his nails clipped. Well he is going to have to indure this on Saturday because his nails have gotten so sharp and long that the other day when he stepped up on my hand one of his nails pierced the tip of my finger and it bleed and was very sore for several days. I need to learn to clip them myself, because I have to take him to the bird store where they clip nails and wings. I can clip his wings, but I can not get him to hold still to do his nails. After the trip to the "nail salon" I am going to take him with me to my daughter's kids college, she goes to kids college every Saturday.
We took Ricci into town last weekend....first time she has been out apart from a trip to the vets to get wings clipped. She sat on Phils shoulder while he drove and STARED at me with that "im gonna come over there and peck your eyes out" look, which had me huddling up to the door
When we got to the shops she stayed in tha car and sat on the steering wheel, she looked so cute! Just as we got back 5 mins later she was in the process of tucking up her leg and havin a lil nap!

In Florida the law states *no animal* can be left in a car for any amount of time. Not even to run in the store leaving the A/C on.
They are VERY strict and you get locked up on sight and never see your pet again unless you win it back in court.
They dont play here. And Im glad. This includes the middle of January... all yr.
Its just too hot here. A car reaches 130 degrees in (I believe) 15 minutes in Florida during the spring. The summer is rediculous.

Nila's adventure
I put Nila on my chest like I usually do and hold my hand over his back, we started out down the road for a walk. This was my first attempt at an outing. He wiggled out of my hands and went to my shoulder and snuggled in next to my hair. I walked around the block with him there and he did fine. But we met a neighbor in her yard that came to say hello and he hid behind my head and over to my other shoulder to stay out of her sight. made me laugh he was so shy. He did fly to the ground 3 times right at first but then settled down and stayed so I kept him on my shoulder. (I want to add that we live in a retirement community, at the very back, and we did not encounter any motor vehicles during the whole time, not even a walker or bike or golf cart). It went so well we tried it a second time latter in the day and met another neighbor with Nila hiding again, but then he must have head another bird because he started his contact call, loud and kept at it for a few minutes. That was our big outing.
