I think he spoke...........

Hi everyone,

I think my IRN said his name. I was in the kitchen, preparing my puppy's food, when all of a sudden, I heard "kokkewiet" which is his name, by the way. He said it twice. Usually he just use to make the sound, but that was not sounds, that was him speaking. When I told my husband he looked at me as if I am crazy.

The most embarressing part is that he only "speaks" when I am alone in the apartment, when my husband is not there. When my husband is there, he just chirps. :oops:

Is this normal IRN behaviour? Because I want my husband to hear him saying his name as well.

I know the feeling! They never do what you want them to do when you want them to do it! I think my Remmi is starting to talk too! It's so exciting. But Remmi has a certain time every evening when he starts to go to town just practicing.

Good luck getting your hubby to hear!

He sounds so sweet and cute when he talks. At that moment when he talks I want to kiss him and give him treats and just spoil him. I gave him lettuce and tomato and he enjoys it very much.

My parents-in-law also wants to my IRN to talk infront of them, but he doesn't want to. They also have an IRN, but he is not so "talented" like mine. He is a more aggressive bird.

I love him so much.

I always found with my other birds that if I put them in another
room where they could not see me or the people visiting, and if
we got loud and laughing then the birds would start talking
But you had to pay attention because as soon as everyone got
really quiet they would get quiet too.

:wink:

Maybe that would work for you. My birds were all well socialize and liked being seen and handled by other people. So they felt left out if I put
them in their own room and closed the door and that's when they talked for me.

indie was like that now he doesnt stop,he yells at me,tiffany reggie (boxer) whistles and says come here. i actually managed to get indie calling me and tiffany but i had to ignore him and have the camera on cookie just so i could get him. i will post it in the vid section so you can hear how clear and loud they become after doing the make you sound crazy thing for a while.

I do believe Remmi turned a year old in June. When I got him from the breeder she couldn't remember the exact birthdate and I was to call and get it from her and then she passed away. :cry:

So I never got my babies birthday. We got him in Nov. and he was 4 1/2 months old. So I'm thinking June would've been when he was born. But not sure.

I am not sure how old Kokkewiet is. We got him in November last year, he had a little bit of feathers, so I think he is 9 months old. Really not sure. He can be older. Not even sure if it is a he. :roll:

But he is a very loveable bird. When he is in the mood, he will climb onto my chest and sit there (he did that when he was a baby), quietly and then I have to stroke him. He loves it.

He doesn't move an inch. Or he just gives me kisses when I least expect it. Too darn cute for words.

When I am outside or not in the room where he is, I always call him and then he gets so excited, lifting his wings and making loud noises. But when my husband calls him, he's quiet. My husband says he thinks Kokkewiet is a male because when my husband is near me, Kokkewiet gets jealous.

While I am typing, I am actually missing my Kokkewiet.....WEIRD!!!! :roll:

He can make me so angry. I kissed him once and I did not know he was mad or in a bad mood, and then he bit my lip. Was very sore, but I got over it, and now he likes kissing me.

well, my Gina (R.I.P.) wuz a female & she wuz jealous of ANYBODY, human or otherwise, who took up my time & attention!! so do not be misled, my dear!! i wuz playing "kissy-face" with her one day & hubby walked by ... i kissed him ... well, Miss Gina wuz havin NONE of that!! she promptly bit my nose (GRAB, PINCH & TWIST) ... i STILL have the scar from it!! now i have Max, my cockatoo, & SHE is the same way!! hubby can't come near me, nor can anyone else while she's out of her cage ... with this houseful of young'uns, she'll be spending plenty of time in "jail" ... oh well, she gets plenty of snuggle-time, too ... gotta spread the love around evenly!!

to Gina's credit, i personally feel that her jealously may have been out of need for me ... SHE knew instinctively that she wuz ill & she knew that if anyone wuz to care for her, it wuz ME ... kinda like "I NEED YOU!! YOU CAN'T DESERT ME!!" sorta thing. maybe i'm wrong, but it makes me feel better, so that's how it is!
