My IRN is bird #5 here. I named him Chipper; it suits him due to the chipping noise he makes. He was given to us by a friend when the owner passed away. The Amazon Red Tail, Morris, and the Cockatiel, Corky, are both about 21 years old. They are best buds and are side by side in their cages here in my computer room, and next to the aquarium. If I move one cage out to clean it, the other bird has a fit and screams like crazy. If Corky goes to birdie heaven some day, I will have to get another cockatiel for Morris! The two budgies are Jamie, female and 8, and Indigo, male and a year and a half. Their cages are in the dining room and Chipper is with them on the buffet. I tried to breed Jamie with another male budgie several years ago. She refused to be mounted, but last year layed about 13 infertile eggs within a period of 6 months! Some day I would love to hand raise a baby bird.
Chipper seems to be slow in warming up to us. We have had him about 10 days now. We are getting him clipped this week, so perhaps that will help if we can get him out of the cage. I have no idea of Chippers history, but he might be about 3 years old with a pale peach color around his neck. Today I brought him into the computer room and he is watching the fish tank. Morris warned him not to get to close to Corky's cage, and calmed down when we moved him farther away. I have learned alot about IRN's since finding this site. I am really hopeful that Chipper will be our best bird ever! Donna

Hello Donna,
And welcome to our family! Please post often and ask any ? you might have. Lord knows I still ask lots. People on this board have so much knowledge! You'll be amazed. We love pictures too. So if you can jump on and upload some pics for us! I'm in Ohio too. I think we have four people from Ohio on here now. So we may be able to have a little irn get together soon. Wouldn't that be fun? My Byndi isn't very tame either. Well she's much tamer than she was when we first brought her home. And all the wonderful people on here helped me thru some very tough times with her. So be patient and ask as many questions as you need to. We're here to help. Please post often!

welcome to the ever growing family.
Sounds like you are full on with fids. Chipper might take a few months to really settle in. From my experience and what I can gather from others these darlings are rather spoilt characters and slow to accept their place.
I know my kai thinks he is the most stunning and most superior creature to anything else.. stuck up little King he is. Although Jordan having been a baby when we brought him in, is like the clown prince and alot more playful.
Your Chipper (being an older bird by the sounds of it, being handed on to you) will probably be more like Kai; Kai was 11 months and came from a flighted aviary but had been hand reared before entering the aviary.
Good luck , look forward to the pics and stories from you
