Last night Smokey bit me really hard several times. He wouldn't step up or let me pat him, Everytime I tried to put my finger near him he bit really hard. He hasn't ever bit that hard. He is now 6 month old and some days I think he just doesn't like me. This morning he came to me with the attitude - If I have to - but still tried to have a go at my fingers. He mostly uses his beak to steady himself before stepping up or onto a perch even but never never never bites. It hurt like hell, I put him in his cage and just sat down and cried with the pain. I have read lots on here about the bluffing stage. I am assuming this may be the start of it. I am quite the sook when it comes to pain so I know I am not going to be able to take those bites. What can I do? I don't want him to be an ornament bird (he's not now) but if I just leave him alone now isn't that what he will become? He will take treats, food or anything he wants from me and still does his cute tricks but phyical contact - NO WAY.
