This is my first time on this board. I have loved these birds for many years. Two of my favorite birds are eclectus and Indian Ringnecks. Well, we got our Eclectus last thanksgiving. Now we have our Ringneck. It was unplanned and spur of the moment, which I know isn't advisable. But we had to have her; it was either us, or a man who wanted to make a breeder out of her and he just didn't seem like a good guy. So we got her. :) And we love her. We've had her for four days. She is very shy and backwards which I understand, as she is only two years of age but has been moved 3-4 times in her short little lifetime already. We want her to be happy and spend the rest of her life here.

She is our first RN. We currently have her, the SI Ekkie Ruby, and Paisley the cockatiel. I'd guess I'd like to know if there are any hits or tips with these guys. Any special foods I should avoid (as I have to do with the Ekkie) or any they particularly like? I feed and cook for them every day; eggs, fresh veggies and fruits, cooked veggies and fruits, rice and lentils, seeds, sprouts (when i can actually get it done right), various cereals, oats, etc etc. We dont' do pellets here, because of Ruby.

We are really loving this bird and she has been a lot of fun and a nice addition to the feathered part of the family. Paisley the 'tiel just loves having screaming contests with her. :)

If I am able I will post a link witha pix of her so you can all see how pretty she is. :) Her name is Posey. One is of her with my husband, Chad. She seems to really like him.

As part of an introduction, also part of our family is three cats, Levi, Diablo, and Gordon, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Heidi, Monk and Sharona the Orandas, Mickey D and Aikidoka the bettas, Micheal the angelfish, Blue the gourami, Woody the farlowella twig, and then there is Riddley, Louie, Grimmace, Tiger, Hansel, JAck, Pat, Bee, and the triplets; these are our snails (we are big snail addicts) in our snail tank.

Thanks so much!

I hope these pictures post OK and aren't too big:

Hi and Welcome,

She is simply gorgeous! Your house sounds like a zoo, a bit like mine :)

The main foods to avoid are avocado, chocolate, lettuce, rhubarb, and anything too sweet or salty. But since you already have a cockateil and eclectus you probably have a good idea of what you need.

Congrats on your new family member, keep us posted

Thanks so much for the welcome. So I guess there isn't anything weird about these guys as far as diet goes? That's good. We are always so paranoid with the Ekkie with the whole food allergies/toe tapping thing.

We really are enjoying her. Today was the first day that she is starting to show how nice she is really going to be. It takes some doing and waiting to get her out of her cage as she is still frightened a bit. Today, she ran from my finger to my shoulder. Once she got up there, she was content. :) She's still nervous but getting better already. We just love this bird!
