What Am I ? And I Don't Mean Colour!
Hi All
Pictures taken during natural daylight, no flash, no special setting, image depicted close to actual only actual phenotype of birds show much more ghosting to the natural eye.
Good luck
Paul

Ben thank-you for your response and I agree with your answer how-ever I still have some reservations as I'm sure you understand I am looking at a greater picture of an entire family over a number of years and there are other traits that your not privy to . One trait is this family have produced typical Misty look alikes as well as birds that would fit in the a'locas catergory as described by Deon Smith for this reason I have posted another photo showing parents and young there is one baby that is missing from photo which is the same colour as the normal violet baby shown.

Paul, I don't own a copy of Deon's book, but I believe he would have referenced the birds in this topic as a-locus birds.Indian Ringneck Vic wrote:as well as birds that would fit in the a'locas catergory as described by Deon Smith

There are quite a number of pictures, but what you'll notice from them is that the birds (probably incorrectly) described as a-locus birds have lighter flight feathers than your birds. If I had to guess what they are, I would have gone with cinnamon based on the flights.
Re: What Am I ? And I Don't Mean Colour!
Johan,
Could you clarify: which birds might carry cinnamon?
Paul,
Can you try and expand in detail what you have experienced?
It'd be good if you can attach pics at high resolution so we can zoom in etc to have a good look at them.
You can email me full sized pics if you want me to post them.
Is this what you're experiencing? see pic below (note: 3rd bird is TurquoiseBlue as reference)

Unfortunately, I can't duplicate attached pictures in a quote, but the violet (?) bird in the very first pic attached.Ring0Neck wrote:

Just goes to show how we all perceive things differently - I would've thought that, that was a nice strong colour for a Cinnamon Violet Blue.
Re: What Am I ? And I Don't Mean Colour!
First thing i saw is a cinn vio however these birds are this year's (i think) and i thought edged because a young edged has darker flights then a mature one. I was judging by the first pic mostly.

Re: What Am I ? And I Don't Mean Colour!
Hi all I am currently trying to gather some more info Johan and Shey may well be correct however these birds and thier relatives definately are not typical cinnamans some will show minimal cin in flights others don't nor are they red eyed none of this birds show cinnamon in the body or back of the wings.Ben the birds you posted are not typical of this family however I did produce 2 birds last year that are typical from a different family line and a friend posted me a photo of a bird bred this year from a bird bought from me a few years ago.I will provide more photo's as sonn as I can get organised. My guess at this stage is sl dom edge with perphaps a twist of something else . Cheers.
