Tacit Understanding
This is something, I must admit, I never expected from a bird. I offered Sanjay a treat via the horizontal bars earlier, he showed interest, then Tapped the next bar up with his beak, so I offered it via that one and he took it. Just to confirm what I was perceiving, I tried it again later on once again he tapped the next bar up and accepted from it. Sanjay must find it easier to grab hold of from there. I used to get this level of communication from our dogs, but coming from Sanjay, it has blown me away!
Re: Tacit Understanding
this reminds me of how i've learned my own bird's vocalizations.. what they mean.
He's got, "please come back, i'm calling you!"
"Hey I dropped that will you hand it back to me"
"Why'd you shut the door in my face I was trying to follow you" immediately followed by "Damn You!"
He doesn't -say- these things.. they're just noises but I know what they mean.
At night if he's hanging out on my shoulder.. and I turn to say something to him.. he'll open his beak real wide and just sorta squeak.. it's real soft.. sometimes it's so soft it comes out as a lower frequency click, or a slow and quiet vibration due to lack of effort..(that's very difficult to describe). I'm not sure what this one is but I'm sure it's basically a sleepy form of "yeah hey buddy, i'm happy right here"

I know what you mean, Sanjay does the same if I ask him "are you okay?" He pins his eyes at the same time.

Parrot speak!
Billie taps the cage when she is impatient, she has two noises when l stroke her one is purring just like a cat and the other is squeaking like a mouse.
Billie has a a call "Where are you?" And if l have been out of the room for awhile she make a big fuss over my return, flapping her wings while crouching and squeaking.
They say dog owners get to look like their dogs l wonder if we get to look like our IRN, if MissK has anything to do with it, sooner than later, "Have you eaten you birds' seed today?"

Sanjay would take a very dim view If I ate his seed! His attitude is very much "what's yours is mine and what's mine is my own"
Re: Tacit Understanding
I agree with Sanjay's mummi today l was putting some fresh greens in Billie's pot I think she thought l was taking her food and she bit me. Being a drama queen l played it for all it was worth "Ouch oo oo oo oo kiss it better" and on and on Billie just looked smug.
