How to get Dilutes
I am very new to ringnecks and trying to learn. I have seen pictures of dilutes and was wondering is it a mutation or can you put two birds together to get them? Any assistance would surely be appreciated. I have read some of the posts on this board and know that there are some very talented ringneckers here. Thank you.

To breed Dilute you need dilute birds. best to get visual dilute or visual and a split , depending where you live this mutation might not be available in your country or very hard to find.

Thank you for the welcome. I understand the basics of genetics, SL Rec and Dom. and so on, but it had to come from the pairing of two ringneck mutation, right?

why? to ensure specie's survival, as times/enemies/environment changes a specie must adapt to changes and rarely throws mutations out there to test the alternatives checking for any changes in above mentioned.
If mutant survives and thrives more and more will mutate and the specie adapted to a change.
Imagine black bears in Antartica or wolves.
Of course time frame for changes can take years or hundreds of years.
the type of mutations and the way they are set to inherit also is set to enforce survival.
That's my interpretation of how mutations work in nature.
So, to breed from two random non mutated birds a Dilute, i give you better odds at winning the lotto.

Ring0Neck, thank you for taking me to school. Trying to make since of it all, have ordered some reading material from Terry Martin and Deon Smith, it should help.
