HI!

Post by dan4nas »

Hello, my name is Danielle and Im very excited to have a chat with you all.

I have owned cockatiels for a few years and last season after doing research decided to put a few breeding boxes in my aviary resulting in 5 clutches for the season. Out of 16 babies I handreared 10 and had a blast. Apart from the dreaded re homing- as a lot of you would know the bond you create with your babies is very hard to let go of.

So hubby and I decided this year we would purchase and hand raise our own "family"indoor pet. The decision- an indian ringneck.

We have had our baby since a week ago when he was just 1 week and 5 days old. Now obviously he is 2 weeks and 5 days old.

We love him so much, he already at such a young age has so much personality, and is the cutest little thing!

We cannot wait to see what colour he turns out to be. Mother is green split to blue and father a visual blue. Any certainty's on what he may be? (i say he but I do not know the if a boy or girl, I just find it better than saying it, a bit more personal)

I look forward to hearing from you guys :)

Tried to add photo... not sure how.

Hi and welcome. Wow you got your chick young. Where in the world did you find a baby that little? I would be petrified to take a chick that little from its parents. I trust all is well with him?

From the colors of the parents you provided, any greens would be split to blue, and any blues would be straight blues. Baby will have to be DNA'd though.
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

Through a friend of mine, I have experience with my cockatiels so was not at all scary.

Through another user on here (thanks again) we have discovered hen is actually a turquoise blue.

Chick is outstanding. Growing everyday, love him dearly :)

Well baby echo is now.3 weeks and 2 days old. And he looks like a pin cushion :) h is now walking around and making new noises several times a day. We love him dearly and cant wait to see what colour he will be. Anyway to tell this without the actual feather coming through or will I need to be a little more patient?
