Re: eggs

do you think i would nead to wipe the poo off the eggs Hey Jayesh & Every Birdie, usually speaking there is not much of a serious need to wipe the poop off the eggs unless the latter are near or fully covering the eggs' shells. If you should ever worry that it would be necessary to clean the po...

Hens can have 1 Sex-linked locus you mean? Isn't it possible for hens to have another locus, say for inheriting an autosomal color trait such as Turquoiseblue for example. Hence a Turquoiseblue Pallid hen would have two distinct loci? Or is every genetic data within the hen's lone Z chromosome cons...

Tintin_Montreal Your post was deleted because it was crued and extremely disrespectful. Allow me to make something very clear... this board it about quality of members not quantity. Jeremy, It would be interesting to see a Cinnamon Grey Pallid. I have always like the pallids myself but have never bred any. A mutation I would like to work with is the opaline.I would love to produce a visual violet opaline. But where I am a green split opaline is $1000.00.A visual blue opaline is...

SF & DF denominations ONLY applies to mutations which ALWAYS inherits in a Dominant manner (either completely aka Complete_Dominance &/or Incompletely aka Incomplete-Dominance) By the way, Deon Smith also refers to SF and DF Turquoise birds. m Hey again bonjoram & Every Birdie, Deon sho...

Thanks for posting Tintin and welcome to the board. It's great to have someone of your knowledge to be posting here. Ok. It is for the above reason that I said on an earlier post that "DF" and "SF" on Turquoise birds is only relevant when mating with Blue series birds. Turquoise is CD within its lo...

In the US, the single-factored Turquoiseblues are commonly referred to as just plain Turquoise. Most American breeders that I've spoken to never refer them as Turquoiseblue. Homozygotic Turquoise birds are called Double-Factor Turquoise (DF). Elsewhere, I guess a Turquoise bird would be a double-fa...

Basically, the TurquoiseBlue's will be primarily Blue, but will have a green wash, particularly on the mantle and head regions. Hey Jeremy & Every Birdie, it is actually the opposite phenomenon where Turquoise specimens display a greenish-blue (near blue colour with slight greenish tones) and w...

genetics and mutations are not my strong point but i believe the turquoise is a green with a single dark factor in the coloration gene and the blue is a normal green that lacks the yellow pigment so just like mixing blue+yellow =green, green-yellow=blue at least thats the way my budgie book sums up...

The Cinnamon mutation versus other very similar mutations

Hey Every Birdie, there are a few mutations which display very similar appearances but they each have their own specific traits revealing their true genetic identity. The genuine Cinnamon mutation ALWAYS display BROWN eyes, skin (feets), toe nails as well as both background (ground colour) & for...
