Re: Is this a good cage?

just to give you a heads up, my first cage had 1/2" bar spacing and my IRN could fit her head through it, she could unlock her doors and get out at anytime. Fearing that she might hang herself I bought a new cage with 1/4" spacing and it has been great.

Re: How old should a IRN be before they eat seed?

Yes, very much too young. The IRN you have should not be eating anything but formula until he/she begins to ween. I would also suggest pellets over seeds, the seeds are very fattening and bad for their health. It is also harder to get them to try new foods such as vegatables when you start with seed...

Re: Feather Loss

I don't know if this is "normal" but I had the same thing happen to my female. From about 6 months to a year old she was losing a lot of feathers everyday, but no signs of feather loss on her. Then after she turned 1 it just quit happening.

I had a pair that the female would always pluck the males feathers out when they were in the same cage. If they are ...

Hi, I'm new to the site.

I have a 1.5 year old female green IRN. I love her so much, she is the sweetest bird I have ever seen. We love to check out other ringnecks online and wanted to see how this forum was.
