Re: Unfertilized Eggs -- Help. I don't want to upset my hen

Thank you so much for the advice. As long as it's not unhealthy for her, I have no problem leaving the eggs for a while longer. I'd much rather she tire of sitting on them then have them disappear.

Unfertilized Eggs -- Help. I don't want to upset my hen

Hi everyone, I'm very new to the IRN world, but every time I've posted on this forum, the responses have been SO helpful that this is my go-to place when I have questions. Mine was a wild hen who adopted me a couple of years ago (we have wild flocks here in Dubai) and now lives with her pet humans. ...

Re: Should I get my female a friend

It gives new meaning to the words "hot and humid" ... like nothing I've experienced before!

Re: Should I get my female a friend

She does have a nasty streak and she can be quite moody at times, but only to others (not to me, thank goodness). Just from the couple of replies I've received, though, I've decided to leave well enough alone. She will bring someone home if she feels the need. I think you're right about her possibly...

Re: Should I get my female a friend

Thank you for your words of wisdom! You make an excellent point in that she would have made a friend if she wanted one. We had a small group of Ringnecks roosting in the building across from us and she completely ignored them, even as they flew by our terrace.

Should I get my female a friend

Hi everyone. I've only posted once before, about a year and a half ago when I began an interesting adventure with my wild Indian Ringneck. She arrived on my porch one day, came back the next and so on, until she actually started living on my porch. I live in Dubai and we have many flocks of wild rin...

Re: Our new friend

She now has a cage, which she has not yet gone into, but doesn't seem to be wary of. We've put her toys on and in it, so now the cage is part of a new game... drop the toy off the cage and wait for us to pick it up. I can't get over what a big personality she has. She really wants to be around us an...

Re: Our new friend

Miss K, Thank you thank you thank you!! You have given us some wonderful ideas. We've been asking around about lost birds, to no avail. I am going to put it on Dubai's version of Craigslist (in the states), but as you said, short of that, we've got ourselves a bird! It's just so hard to say whether ...

Re: Our new friend

No predators that we're aware of. We're in a flat on the 7th floor, with a very large terrace that she has now made her home. She's such a love and I want to be sure that I give her whatever she needs

Re: Our new friend

Hi Claire, Thanks so much for your reply! Definitely would never have her wings clipped...one of the most beautiful things about her is her freedom. To keep her warm at night, we were thinking of looking for a cage, with a perch, keeping it mostly covered, but keeping the door open. Not sure if she'...

Our new friend

Hello, I am new here and new to IRNs, assuming that's what she is. We live in Dubai and have a large, open terrace at our home. One day, a beautiful bird flew onto our terrace and sat for a while. She came back a couple of times and I put some fruit out. Once I put the fruit out, that was it. She ha...
