So a year has passed since this post and no update on the breeding results?.
by the way Chris I do have Dr Deon's book and it is amusing that Dr Deon himself has labeled the father of my bird as the Blue Saddleback.
But don't be concerned as I am not claiming that I have a saddleback.

the pic I posted is a Dom pied (mother pastel violet pied , Father deep blue)

I would have said
bird 1 SA Deep and bird 2 misty violet
but yes without them side by side it would be very difficult to tell, they both look like deep blue

He should get a bigger clutch this year as they will be rising 3yo
Ps the bird in question that is being advertised is a Violet Cobalt bred from one of the parents of the hopefully DF Deep blue.

There is no trick
One photo was taken in the day time on a sunny day and the others taken this morning early with overcast conditions , surely you can see the difference between the emerald and the turquoise blue in the group photo 1st pic and the 2nd pic
The other photos are of turquoise blue
